CHICO, Calif. — The Chico Police Department (CPD) is urging caution for visitors around some of the city's natural wonders like Big Chico Creek.
With more heavy rain and wind on the way, police are urging residents to drive slow, avoid flooded roads and downed trees, and prepare for potential power outages.
Some parts of the creek closer to Chico State’s campus and Annie's Glenn did have crews removing downed trees.

Some Chico locals were out and about by the famous Sycamore Pool earlier, and talked about the rarity of this storm.
“It's been a long time since it’s been this high,” said Chico local Denise Katsikas. Katsikas has lived in the area since 1977.
“We are actually getting a winter that looks like a winter, and flooding could be part of that.” said Barry Lorance, another resident of four-plus decades.

Other locals said they weren’t concerned about Big Chico Creek flooding their homes, especially longtime residents, but they welcomed the overdue rain, and urged safety.
