CLAM BEACH, Calif. — New ADA-compliant mobility mats are now installed at the northern parking lot of Clam Beach County Park.
The County of Humboldt has completed the installation allowing those with disabilities to travel from the parking lot to the high tide line of the beach.
This makes Clam Beach the northernmost accessible beach in the state of California.
"It took years to research and install this beach mat, and seek and respond to public feedback, and I would like to thank everyone involved for their work to bring this project to fruition," Fifth District Supervisor and Chair of the Board of Supervisors Steve Madrone stated in a press release.
The project is part of the county's effort to provide more access to all residents in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
