A woman is wanted out of Humboldt County after failing to appear in court for a July 2017 case in which a man was killed in a traffic accident, according to the Humboldt County District Attorney.

Sandra Marie Meyer, 54, is wanted on an outstanding warrant for vehicular manslaughter, according to the DA. Court minutes indicate that Meyer pled no-contest to two charges: Vehicular manslaughter, a misdemeanor, and driving without a license. She was in court June 8 but failed to appear for her July 5 hearing.

Meyer is charged with killing 70-year-old John Edward Williams without malice and without gross negligence, and while driving a vehicle in the commission of an unlawful act, according to court documents. She is wanted on $50,000 bond.

On July 18, 2017 at about 10:27 a.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department (EPD) responded to the 3000 block of Broadway for the report of an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on a motorized scooter. The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to the hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as 70-year-old John Edward Williams of Eureka.

"The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado had been traveling north on Broadway. The driver made a turn into a shopping center and collided with Williams who was on the sidewalk on his scooter," the EPD said just after the incident.

Anyone with knowledge as to Meyers's whereabouts should contact their local law enforcement agency immediately.
