According to the June 5 county primary election night results, Lawrence Killoran leads Lathe Gill in the race for Humboldt County supervisor court judge by almost twice as many votes.
Though final results will not be known nor released for about another month, preliminary results show that as of election night, Killoran had 65.97 percent of the vote with 11,310 votes. Lathe holds 33.64 percent of the current vote with 5,767 ballots cast in his name.
The county elections office still has not received all of its ballots, with vote-by-mail still being received, sorted and processed. Vote-by-mail ballots will be received by the elections office until Friday, June 8 as long as they are postmarked on or before June 5.
According to Kelly Sanders, the county clerk recorder, all precinct ballots have been counted with a few small exceptions. Sanders said the elections office has until about 30 days after the election before results need to be certified.
"We just had 750 dropped off in our ballot box and 2500 in the mail," Sanders said Wednesday morning, emphasizing the fact that there are still possibly thousands of votes to be counted.
