ARCATA, Calif. — Yesterday, police arrested a man who allegedly shot at another man in Arcata.
Officers from the Arcata Police Department responded to a call around 2:30 a.m. Friday from a man who said he was being shot at by 31-year-old Joshua Lee Harris. The incident occurred near 5200 Carlson Park Drive in Valley West.
Police learned the two were arguing over stolen property when Harris reportedly shot a handgun at the victim -- but missed. The victim did not report any injuries.
On June 6, police found Harris walking around Arcata near Giuntoli Lane and Valley East Boulevard with a loaded handgun. Officials suspect this was the same handgun he fired at the victim, but this has not yet been confirmed.
Harris was booked into Humboldt County Jail on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a handgun, possession of a loaded handgun, felony warrant for possession of stolen property and narcotics-related charges.
APD is still investigating the incident and anyone with information should call APD Investigations at (707) 822-2424.
